GAMING APPARATUS FOR DEVELOPING VISUAL AND SPATIAL THINKING BASED ON THE USE OF TACTILE SENSATIONS ALONG WITH VISUAL PERCEPTION Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC A63F3/00

Abstract RU 2775477 C1

FIELD: teaching.

SUBSTANCE: gaming apparatus for developing visual and spatial thinking based on the use of tactile sensations along with visual perception relates to the field of education and can also be applied in correctional pedagogy or used at home. Invention is intended primarily for use by healthy children of the preschool and primary school age and children with visual impairment at a degree close to absence thereof, use by adults with tactile impairments and reduced visual acuity at a degree close to absence thereof is also possible. For children with visual impairment at a degree close to absence thereof, the apparatus can therein be used primarily based on tactile sensations due to the presence of structural elements with protrusions and recesses, as well as materials with organoleptic properties. Claimed apparatus comprises a three-dimensional platform 1 with recesses 2 made on the upper part, the surface of each recess has a unique profile 3. The recesses are intended for installing three-dimensional game puzzles 4 therein, the upper part comprises a material 5, the organoleptic properties whereof can be assessed by the children using tactile sensations, and the lower part has a profile surface 3a matching the unique profile 3 of one of the recesses 2 of the platform 1 (fig. 4). The upper part of each three-dimensional puzzle 4 is also configured for installing additional removable attachments 7 thereon, containing three-dimensional gaming objects 8 made of an organoleptic material, and the three-dimensional gaming objects 8 can be shaped as animal and plant species, figures of fairytale characters, letters, numbers, and other symbols and signs (e.g., "!", "+", "–", etc.) (figs. 1, 2, 6). The technical problem being solved herein is the creation of a gaming apparatus for children of preschool and primary school age and children with visual impairment at a degree close to blindness, for developing visual and spatial thinking based on the use of tactile sensations along with visual perception, wherein, for children with visual impairment at a degree close to blindness, primarily with the use of tactile sensations, the structure whereof would contain a sufficient amount and variety of tactile references (e.g., protrusions and recesses) for assembling story-based images, wherein the variability of the created images and, accordingly, the variability of tactile sensations received by children, should be ensured.

EFFECT: use of the design of the gaming apparatus contributes to the development of visual and spatial thinking in children of preschool and primary school age and children with visual impairment at a degree close to blindness, based on the use of tactile sensations along with visual perception, wherein, for children with visual impairment at a degree close to blindness, primarily with the use of tactile sensations, apparatus also ensures the variability of the created images, thereby expanding the possibilities of developing visual and spatial thinking in children to an even greater extent.
