SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol-generating system and to a method for manufacturing a liquid-permeable electric heater assembly. The aerosol-generating system comprises a liquid-permeable electric heater assembly, wherein the heater assembly comprises: an electrically insulating substrate, a hole formed in the electrically insulating substrate, and a heater element with a first outer surface, attached to the electrically insulating substrate. The heater element fills the hole and comprises multiple electrically conductive filaments connected with the first and second parts of an electrically conductive contact. The first and second parts of the electrically conductive contact are located on opposite sides of the hole relative to each other, wherein the first and second parts of the electrically conductive contact are configured to allow for contact with an external power source.

EFFECT: large area of contact is provided between the heater and the evaporating liquid; provided parts of an electrically conductive contact, forming part of the heater element, ensure a reliable and simple connection of the heater assembly with the power source.
