FIELD: physical chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the preparation of a solution of sodium hydroxide. In the method for obtaining a 42-50% sodium hydroxide solution, a solution preparation unit is used, including a dissolution tank, a storage tank for water and a circulation pump for supplying water from the storage tank to the dissolution tank. The method includes purification and water demineralization; placing purified and demineralized water in the storage tank; placing granular or flaked sodium hydroxide in the dissolution tank; placing ice in the dissolution tank; directing water from the storage tank to the dissolution tank and ensuring circulation of the resulting solution until the dissolution of sodium hydroxide is completed. At the same time, water is taken in an amount of 90-120 wt. % of sodium hydroxide. Ice is obtained by cooling purified and demineralized water and taken in an amount of 10-15 wt. % of sodium hydroxide.
EFFECT: reduction of the exothermic effect of the dissolution of sodium hydroxide and acceleration of the dissolution of sodium hydroxide is provided.
