SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the textile industry and to nanotechnology. Disclosed is a method for producing an antimicrobial silver-containing material, including consecutive treatment of the material with a pre-produced aqueous solution of silver nitrate, forming nanoparticles on the material, followed by dehydration and drying, wherein fibrous materials are used as a material, containing functional groups -COOH, -OH, -NH₂, -CO-NH-, processed first in an aqueous solution of copper sulphate at a concentration of 0.00005 to 0.001 mol/dm³ for 10 to 20 minutes at a temperature of 80 to 100°C resulting in copper cations distributed in the porous structure and on the surface of the material, then in an aqueous solution of silver nitrate at a concentration of 0.0001 to 0.0005 mol/dm³ for 15 to 60 minutes at 80 to 100°C resulting in bimetallic copper-silver nanoparticles distributed in the porous structure and on the surface of the material, treated on batch equipment at a mixing rate from 50 to 200 rpm and a liquid bath module from 50 to 70.

EFFECT: increase in the manufacturability of the process due to the elimination of excipients at the stage of preparation of treatment solutions with an increase in the duration of preservation of antimicrobial properties in the course of operation due to the stronger attachment of metal nanoparticles in the porous structure and on the surface of the material.
