FIELD: hairdressing equipment.

SUBSTANCE: in a hair styling apparatus (100) containing electrodes (102) for subjecting hair to a radio frequency signal, the frequency of the radio frequency signal is from 50 MHz to 90 MHz. Preferably, the voltage of the radio frequency signal does not exceed 30 V, wherein the voltage not exceeding 10 V is suitable for a configuration utilising another heat source (103) to heat the hair to a first temperature not exceeding 150°C (therefore, lesser than the critical temperature leading to hair cuticle damage), and radio frequency electrodes (102) (in combination with heat from another heat source (103)) for selective heating of the outer cover of hair to a second temperature exceeding the first temperature and sufficiently high for styling hair.

EFFECT: possibility of styling hair using a radio frequency signal.
