FIELD: metals chemical-thermal treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of chemical-thermal treatment of metals, in particular to ion nitriding, and can be used in engineering, automotive and valve building. A device for nitriding in a glow discharge of a steel part contains a vacuum chamber, an adjustable power source, a screen and a device for supplying nitrogen. The vacuum chamber is made with the possibility of placing a steel part in it, connected as a cathode to the negative pole of an adjustable power source. The screen is designed to be placed at a distance from the steel part and connected to it. At the same time, said screen is made in the form of coaxial hollow cylinders, the radii of which are related by the ratio Rn=n×R1. Wherein n is the serial number of the coaxial hollow cylinder, starting from the first. R1 is the radius of the first hollow coaxial cylinder, m, L is the screen thickness, m, and X is the distance from the screen to the cathode piece, m, are related by the following relationship (L+X)/R1=2.5.
EFFECT: increase in the microhardness of the nitrided coating is provided.
