FIELD: computing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of computing technology for analysing stereo images when building a digital surface model (DSM) based on data from space stereo imaging. The technical result is achieved by comparing stereo images and finding the shift matrix of the points of the second image relative to the points of the first image in two stages. At the first stage, the shift matrix is built by finding the minimum of the modified energy function by the GraphCut (GC) algorithm, and at the second stage, the exact shift matrix is found by Semi-global matching (SGM) at each point p of the first image by the minimum of the modified energy function for each ith ray originating at point p. For each point p of the image of a stereo pair, an attribute vector is formed, called the DAISY(p) descriptor. The coordinates of the DAISY(p) descriptor are two-dimensional convolutions of modules of brightness gradients in 8 directions with Gaussian kernels of varying radii calculated at point p and at 24 more points evenly distributed over three concentric circumferences with a centre at point p.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy and level of detail when building a digital surface model based on data from space stereo imaging.
