FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of geophysics and can be used to estimate the hydrocarbon reserves in a non-homogeneous layer. Proposed is a method for estimating fluids in a dense hydrocarbon reservoir inside a non-homogeneous geological layer or a section thereof, wherein the method includes: a) obtaining the physical parameters of fluids and the layer; b) constructing at least one three-dimensional (3D) model of the dense hydrocarbon reservoir applying the physical parameters, wherein such a three-dimensional model comprises an imitation of the pore structure and the mineralogical composition; c) calculating the amount of hydrocarbon for each said three-dimensional model in stage b); d) calculating the total amount of hydrocarbon reserves; and (e) creating a development plan based on the estimated total hydrocarbon reserves.
EFFECT: application of three-dimensional modelling of the non-homogeneous and porous structure of a nanoscale layer contributes to a more accurate estimation of the hydrocarbon reserves and fluid behaviour.
