SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for determining the density of soil and can be used in agriculture. A method for determining the density of soil in the channel formed in the subsurface layer after the passage of the rotary ripper is carried out by performing a vertical section of the soil layer in a plane transverse to the direction of the passage of the rotary ripper to a depth greater than the depth of treatment with a rotary ripper, and taking a soil sample directly from the channel in the horizontal direction using a drill cylinder having a diameter equal to the diameter of the rotary soil ripper. Then the moisture content of the soil sample is determined, its drying to a constant weight, weighing and determining the weight of absolutely dry soil. The calculation of soil density is performed according to the formula , where Md is the weight of absolutely dry soil in the volume of the drill cylinder (kg); Vs is the volume of the soil sample (m3).

EFFECT: increase in the accuracy of determining the density of the soil in the channel formed in the subsurface layer after the passage of the rotary ripper.
