FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of glycerin carbonate methacrylate, wherein glycidyl methacrylate is subjected to the interaction with carbon dioxide in the presence of a catalyst and a solvent. In this case, the catalyst is potassium iodide, and the solvent is acetonitrile, one or several mono-alcohols, or any mixture of acetonitrile with one or several mono-alcohols, wherein the interaction of glycidyl methacrylate with carbon dioxide is carried out under pressure from 0.5 to 5 bar.
EFFECT: advantage of a method proposed in the invention is the possibility of the production of glycerin carbonate methacrylate with high selectivity at low pressures, using an easily accessible catalyst; another advantage of the method proposed in the invention is, for example, the possibility of the production of high-quality glycerin carbonate methacrylate; high quality of glycerin carbonate methacrylate produced by the method proposed in the invention is, for example, in that it is characterized by high purity and/or low color index value.
