FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: liquid-phase selective oxidation methods are described. Method involves partial oxidation of alkanes to partially oxidised products containing one or more lower alkyl alcohols, lower alkyl ketones and lower alkyl acetates. Lower alkane, the solvent, the soluble metal catalyst and the promoter are contacted in the presence of an oxidising agent in the reaction zone under partial oxidation conditions to obtain partially oxidised products. Weight ratio of lower alkane to oxygen is in range of 20:1 - 1:2. Soluble metal catalyst is a soluble salt of cobalt, manganese or a combination thereof. Promoter includes a bromine source, an imide source or a combination thereof. Reaction conditions include temperature in the range of about 40–250 °C and pressure in the range from about 0.7 to about 13.8 MPa (man.).
EFFECT: reaction takes place at lower temperature and provides higher yield of product.
