SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the field of fault detection. Method for magnetic powder testing of articles made of ferromagnetic materials includes the stages of magnetising the article by an alternating magnetic field with the application of a powder of a ferromagnetic material, performing visual inspection and identifying defects in the article, wherein the article is magnetised by means of a parallel oscillatory circuit powered by a source of alternating current by adjusting the frequency of the source of alternating current to the resonant frequency of the circuit.

EFFECT: reduction in the power consumption of the apparatus and increase in the compactness and mobility thereof.
