SUBSTANCE: winding machine comprises a frame, a spindle, a thread guide assembly provided with a reciprocatingly driven thread guide and a pressure tool pressed to the side surface of the winding wound on the spindle, said assembly configured to perform a compensating motion relative to the spindle during the winding cycle in accordance with the increasing winding diameter. A head thread guide is placed before the reciprocating thread guide, located on the frame at a distance from the thread guide assembly, wherefrom the wound material directly enters the thread guide assembly. The head thread guide is configured to move with one degree of freedom relative to the frame of the winding machine, depending on said compensating motion.

EFFECT: reduction or complete exclusion of change in the input angle of the wound material in the area of the thread guide assembly during the winding cycle.
