FIELD: seismology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to seismic geology and is intended for controlled reduction of engineering seismic risk in order to prevent dangerous earthquakes by high-frequency wave hydraulic impacts of fluid pressure on fractured reservoir layers in separate segments of an earthquake-prone main fault, pumped through directional deep wells with a horizontal termination. The essence of the invention: drilling of deep multi-hole wells into sectors (segments) of the main tectonic displacer is carried out across the strike of the main fracturing systems to conduct controlled high-frequency wave hydraulic actions by fluid pressure in a precisely designed range of values that initiate smooth displacements of the fault wings in the mode of accelerated shear creep.
EFFECT: prevention of strong and catastrophic earthquakes by means of gradual reduction of accumulated excessive deformations and seismotectonic energy of the subsurface in stages in separate segments of the main seismic fault to a safe background level confirmed by deformation and seismological measurements; the relaxation effect is thus achieved for time intervals lasting many tens to hundreds of years and more.
