FIELD: domestic appliances.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a kitchen appliance, preferably a manual kitchen appliance for processing food, provided with a drive shaft installed rotatably and interacting with the motor of the kitchen appliance; a working part, preferably one with a blade, provided on the drive shaft; a protective hood with multiple circumferentially positioned recesses, surrounding the working part in the circumferential direction of rotation of the drive shaft and provided with a hole in the axial direction of the drive shaft; and preferably, a cylindrical auxiliary element that can be placed on and removed from the protective hood without using a tool. The auxiliary element has a shell-like body with the first axial end surface and a second opposing axial end surface distanced from the protective hood, and due to the interaction with said auxiliary element, the protective hood defines a food processing cavity closed in the circumferential direction of the protective hood. Further, the shell-like body has multiple, preferably three, more preferably six, radially inwards-extending protrusions capable of interacting with the recesses of the protective hood. Also disclosed is an auxiliary element for sealing the protective hood of such a kitchen appliance.
