FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the starch recycling technology. Method for producing chemically modified cationic starch involves adding the chemical reagent N-(3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl)-N,N,N-trimethylammonium chloride to the starch; adjusting the reaction medium, wherein caustic soda NaOH is used as an activator; and conducting an esterification reaction, is characterised by using native potato, and/or corn, and/or wheat starch with a moisture content of 10 to 40% as starch, and conducting the esterification reaction in a UHF unit at a power of 1 to 500 kW for 1 to 10 minutes, followed by dehydrating to a commercial-grade moisture content of 13 to 20% as a result of drying at a temperature of no more than +60°C; sieving through a sieve with holes no more than 1.0 mm in size; and conducting magnetic separation using permanent magnets at a product layer thickness of 6 to 8 mm and a rate of passage of the layer through the magnets of no more than 0.5 m/s, followed by dispensing and packaging.
EFFECT: production of starch with a satisfactory degree of substitution, stable and constant for the entire storage life, for application thereof in the paper industry.
