SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding technologies, in particular, to the implicit indication of conversion. A video decoding method is proposed for the decoder, where the signaling information of the conversion unit is obtained from the encoded video bit stream, it is determined whether the signaling information of the conversion unit indicates an implicit conversion scheme, and whether at least one of the low-frequency non-separable conversion (LFNST) and the matrix-based internal prediction mode (MIP) is invalid. In response to the determination that the signaling information of the conversion unit indicates an implicit conversion scheme, and at least one of the LFNST and MIP is signaled as invalid, the type of primary conversion is determined based on the size of the encoding unit (CU), and the primary conversion is performed for the conversion unit obtained by dividing CU, in accordance with a certain type of primary conversion.
