FIELD: wastewater treatment.

SUBSTANCE: claimed invention is a float-type device and can be used mainly in biological wastewater treatment plants to ensure automatic control of the liquid level in the installation and discharge of its excess outside the installation in the event of an emergency or a peak discharge of liquid. The device for emergency liquid discharge contains a drain element and a valve. The drain element is made in the form of a straight tube with inlet and outlet sections. The valve is made in the form of a float placed at one end of the tube from the side of its inlet section and connected to the tube by means of a swivel with the possibility of rotation and, accordingly, closing or opening the inlet section of the tube when the liquid level changes. The float contains a cup having a bottom part and a plug covering the cup with the formation of a hollow body. The bottom part of the cup has a protrusion on its outer side for insertion into the inlet section of the tube, and the plug has an annular protrusion interacting with the inner surface of the cup wall.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at ensuring the operability of the installation as a whole under any operating conditions and at the same time ensures the proper quality of treatment of the processed liquid.
