SUBSTANCE: invention relates to dispersed material based on titanium dioxide, which is covered with silicon oxide. A method for the manufacture of titanium dioxide particles having a layer of coating of silicon oxide includes the formation of aqueous dispersion containing titanium dioxide particles, having an average particle size of 7-1000 nm, introduction into the mentioned dispersion of a silicon-containing compound to obtain alkaline dispersion with pH of 9.3-12. Then, acid is added to alkaline dispersion to reduce a pH level to 4.3-8. Stages of introduction of the silicon-containing compound and addition of acid are repeated at least once. In completion, pH indicator of dispersion is reduced to a value in the range from 1.9 to 9.0 before filtration and washing of the product.
EFFECT: obtaining denser coating of silicon oxide on titanium dioxide particles, which improves stability of particles in different compositions, reduces specific surface according to BET and oil absorption; in addition, the tendency to agglomeration and flocculation of particles is reduced.
