FIELD: non-destructive testing.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of non-destructive testing, and more specifically to the determination of the thickness of deposits. The method for determining the thickness of deposits on the inner walls of pipelines and process equipment consists in the fact that free vibrations are excited in a local area of the object of study and vibrations are recorded. In this case, vibrations are recorded both in this area and in a sample area of the same thickness and with the same acoustic characteristics without deposits and with deposits of known thickness. Comparing the data obtained, a conclusion is made about the thickness of the deposits.
EFFECT: increased accuracy of determination of deposits.
