FIELD: measurement tools.
SUBSTANCE: invention is used to determine the thickness of deposits on the inner wall of pipelines and process equipment. Free vibrations are excited and recorded in a local area of the test object and their parameters are determined by comparing with the results of device calibration, the wall thickness of the test object is preliminarily measured by ultrasonic method to eliminate errors due to corrosive wear and internal defects and a device is calibrated with a sample of the same thickness and with the same acoustic properties as the test object, with deposits of the same nature, but of different thickness, to clarify the mathematical dependence of the vibration parameters on the thickness of the deposits, while measuring three vibration parameters – vibration frequency, oscillation energy and duration of oscillations, the thickness of deposits is determined by pre-built mathematical dependences of these oscillation parameters on the thickness of deposits.
EFFECT: increased accuracy in determining the thickness of deposits on the inner walls of pipelines and process equipment.
