The landing gear of the return stage of the launch vehicle consists of four landing legs that are deployed to touch the landing pad with a low speed. The supports in the unfolded state have a small radius of removal of the landing support touch point with the landing platform from the longitudinal axis of the step. The method for landing the return stage of the launch vehicle consists in unfolding the lower landing legs and bringing the stage into a vertical position until the lower landing legs touch the landing site at low speed. In this case, the upper landing legs are deployed simultaneously with the lower landing legs are unfolded, and after the two lower landing legs touch the landing site, the landing stage is brought from vertical to a given horizontal position.

EFFECT: fail-safe landing is achieved.
