FIELD: video encoding and decoding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to video encoding and decoding, using position-depending combination with internal prediction (hereinafter – PDPC) with wide-angle internal prediction. A size of the current video data unit is determined. A mode of wide-angle internal prediction can be determined for the current unit based on the size. A prediction unit for the current unit can be determined, using the mode of wide-angle internal prediction. A prediction sample from the prediction unit can be modified in such a way that to form a modified prediction sample, using PDPC, which may include the determination of one or more reference samples, which are external for the current unit, based on the mode of wide-angle internal prediction, and modification of the prediction sample to form a modified prediction sample based on determined one or more reference samples.
EFFECT: increase in the encoding efficiency.
