SUBSTANCE: invention relates to computer technology. A computer-implemented method for establishing control over a connected device in the operating system is proposed, performed using a processor and containing the steps at which: the filter of the registry subsystem is registered, which is made with the ability to track and modify the lower and upper filters of physical, logical and virtual devices; the connected device is detected using the PnP manager (Plug and Play manager) in the operating system (OS); the lower or upper filter is attached according to the type of connected device and information about the connected device is collected using the PnP manager in the OS; a global list of all connected devices to the system is formed using the lower and upper filters; the current states of the devices is coordinated; the lists of lower and upper filters are filtered; and control over the connected device is established.

EFFECT: increase in the security level of the operating system when detecting connected devices.
