FIELD: vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for radial alignment of rail vehicle wheelsets relative to the coordinate system of a wheelset diagnostics and/or processing machine. Method includes the following stages: a) placing the wheelset in the working area of the machine; b) determining the coordinate system on the machine side at the projected wheel centre of each wheel, wherein the X axis corresponds to the vertical length, the Y axis corresponds to the horizontal length, and the Z axis describes the resulting length of the wheel in depth; c) measuring the distance between the backs of the wheels and determining the Z position = 0 on the corresponding back of the wheel; d) determining a unique Z position for each measurement point; e) placing one measuring sensor in each of said Z positions; f) measuring the X position of the corresponding measurement point; g) aligning the wheelset by moving one of the wheels vertically so as to align the X positions of the measurement points of both wheels.
EFFECT: method is implemented quickly and with sufficient precision.
