SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and a device for determining the rail vehicle velocity. Method for determining the rail vehicle, velocity wherein the vehicle comprises sensory devices and a signal processing device, the method comprises the following steps: determining unevenness of the rail, respectively, on one front wheel pair by means of a first sensor device and at least on one tail wheel pair by means of another sensor device; transferring sensor signals generated by sensors to the signal processing device, which is performed in order to carry out an analysis of the input signals of the sensors and on this basis to determine the velocity, and for this purpose the transfer function is evaluated from one sensor to another.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of determining the rail vehicle velocity.
