FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, namely to chemical-thermal processing of a tool made of die steels (“3Х3М3Ф, 4Х5МФС”, etc.); it can be used for strengthening all types of a die tool operating under conditions of intensive friction and dynamic loads. A method for gas low-temperature nitro-cementation of a die tool made of high alloyed die steels in a vacuum furnace includes following operations: vacuuming of the furnace, preheating of the mentioned tool in oxygen-free atmosphere in a nitrogen medium, subsequent diffuse saturation with nitrogen and carbon in a medium of 50% nitrogen molecular gas, 25% ammonium, and 25% exothermal gas at a temperature of 500-570°C for 60-180 min, subsequent cooling in a gaseous nitrogen medium to a temperature of less than or equal to 200°C.
EFFECT: increase in a resource of a die tool made of high alloyed die steels in a gaseous medium in vacuum furnaces, which allows for provision of an increase in resistance of a cutting tool by 2-2.5 times and improvement of ecological safety.
