FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of agriculture, in particular, to fruit farming. Method for training the crown of cherry trees includes planting seedlings in the clonal rootstock "VSL-2", with the following arrangement: 5.0×2.0 m, shortening the seedlings by 70 cm in the first year after planting. After the seedlings are shortened, two shoots are formed oppositely in the direction of the row. When the shoots grow to 60 cm, they are inclined by 90° from the vertical and tied to pegs 80 cm in height. In order to form a 4-stem standard crown, two vertically growing shoots are formed on the same horizontally inclined shoots 40 to 50 cm apart in the second year after planting the seedlings, whereon the resulting premature lateral shoots are pinched above leaves 3–5. When the vertical shoots grow to 140–160 cm and the total tree height reaches 210–230 cm, the growth of the shoots is limited by shortening in the third year after planting.
EFFECT: reduced labour costs to train the tree crown, ensured possibility of maintaining the crown and harvesting fruits from the ground without additional equipment, ensured early start of fruiting, and increase in the yield.
