SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing lithium metal for the negative electrode of chemical current sources in chemical current sources with a lithium electrode. The method includes adding lithium pigs to the line, cleaning the lithium pig from the layer of preservation grease, cutting the pigs into workpieces, melting the workpieces at 230 to 270°C, placing the lithium melt in an ingot, subjecting the ingot with lithium melt to vibration for 2 to 20 minutes, removing the workpiece from the ingot after the lithium has cooled, and trimming the ends of the workpiece to the required size.

EFFECT: higher degree of purification of lithium.
