FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalyst of light n-alkane isomerization and a method for isomerization of light n-alkanes in the presence of these catalysts. The catalyst contains a carrier γ-Al2O3 and active components having the following content relatively to the carrier: platinum from 0.05 to 1.0 wt.%, chlorine from 2 to 12 wt.%. The carrier γ-Al2O3 has bimodal size distribution of pores, consisting of large pores and small pores. The most probable pore diameter for small pores is from 6 to 10 nm. The most probable pore diameter for large pores is from 12 to 20 nm. The catalyst may additionally contain from 0.01 to 2.0 wt.% of TiO2. The method for isomerization of light alkane provides a reaction of light alkane above the catalyst under conditions of temperature from 100 to 300°C, pressure from 2.0 to 7.0 MPa, and molar ratio of hydrogen and hydrocarbon from 0.01 to 5.0.
EFFECT: catalyst has relatively high isomerization activity, selectivity, and resistance.
