FIELD: fuels performance properties study.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the study of the performance properties of fuels of various component, hydrocarbon and fractional composition and, in particular, to the assessment of the tendency of diesel fuels to carbon formation using an internal combustion engine with air compression and subsequent fuel supply with self-ignition and can be used in research organizations, laboratories of oil refineries and in organizations involved in the research of various types of fuels for diesel engines. To assess the tendency of diesel fuels to carbon formation, the engine of the engine installation is operated on the analyzed diesel fuel for a specified period of time of 300±10 s and a predetermined value of the engine compression ratio of 18.0 units. at a crankshaft speed of 15±0.15 s-1 with a fuel injection advance angle of 13 degrees. to top dead center and the amount of fuel supplied to the engine is 0.22±0.08 cm3/s at a coolant temperature of 100±2°C, injector temperature 38±3°C, air temperature at the engine inlet 65±1°C, oil temperature in the crankcase 50-65°C. Before testing the analyzed fuel, tests are additionally carried out under identical conditions for a reference fuel consisting of a mixture of decahydronaphthalene and n-hexadecane, taken in a 4:1 volume ratio. The susceptibility of the analyzed fuel to carbon formation is assessed by the amount of carbon deposits on the carbon deposit placed in the prechamber of the engine of the motor unit on the bottom of the piston of the mechanism for changing the compression ratio. The susceptibility of the analyzed fuel to carbon formation is estimated by the coefficient of carbon formation, calculated as the ratio of the mass of carbon deposits on the pellet, obtained on the analyzed fuel, to the mass of carbon deposits on the pellet, obtained on the control fuel.
EFFECT: increasing the reliability and information content of assessing the tendency of diesel fuels to carbon formation due to the approximation of test conditions to the real operating conditions of modern diesel engines.
