FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analogue and discrete equipment and can be used in analogue-to-digital converters based on current-to-frequency or voltage-to-frequency converters. Dual-band analogue-to-digital converter with automatic limit switching comprises an analogue-to-digital converter (ADC) based on current-to-frequency or voltage-to-frequency converters, a surge unit, and a range switching unit. The surge unit acts as the circuit input, wherein the measured analogue signal passes through said input. The first and second outputs of the surge unit are connected with the positive and negative inputs of the range switching unit, respectively, and the third output of the surge unit is connected with the first input of the ADC integrator. The first and second outputs of the range switching unit are connected with the range switching input of the logic apparatus of the ADC and the control input of the surge current generator, respectively. The positive and negative outputs of the logic apparatus of the ADC are connected with the positive and negative control inputs of the key circuit of the ADC, respectively, and the positive and negative inputs are connected with the positive and negative outputs of the comparator unit of the ADC. The logic apparatus of the ADC emits a discrete or digital signal to the output of the circuit, said signal being proportional to the measured analogue signal. The output of the surge current generator is connected with the input of the reference current source of the ADC. The output of the reference current source of the ADC is connected with the switching input of the key circuit of the ADC. The output of the key circuit of the ADC is connected to the second input of the integrator of the ADC. The output of the integrator of the ADC is connected with the input of the comparator unit of the ADC.
EFFECT: expanded operating range of the analogue-to-digital converter with the maintained precision characteristics of the article in the operating input signal range and maintained scale factor in the expanded input current range.
