FIELD: controlling.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for ending the flight of a drone in a predetermined emergency landing region when monitoring the condition of an overhead power line (OPL). To implement the method, the autopilot of the drone is activated, wherein said autopilot reacts to the electromagnetic field generated by the OPL and guides the drone along the route of the OPL to the predetermined emergency landing region located between the two OPL supports acting as boundaries; such wire transposition is used that provides a change in the parameters of the electromagnetic field of the OPL; the autopilot of the drone is issued a preliminary command to activate the emergency landing mode after the sensing elements thereof detect a change in the parameters of the electromagnetic field generated by the OPL; the speed, direction, and duration of the flight of the drone are controlled until communication is lost with the ground-based control point; the distance travelled by the drone in the standard mode is calculated, and the nearest predetermined emergency landing region in the further route thereof and the time of emergency landing are identified.

EFFECT: higher effectiveness of application of the drone when monitoring the condition of overhead power lines.
