FIELD: chemical processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of chemical technology. Invention relates to a method for producing synthesis gas by means of steam conversion of methane. The gaseous mixture of methane with water vapour is passed through a heat exchange element (21) made in the form of a body (22) made of a highly porous material with an open permeable porosity, capable of passing the gas mixture and absorbing microwave emission, releasing heat as a result, with the simultaneous effect of microwave emission on said heat exchange material. Invention also relates to a reactor for producing synthesis gas.
EFFECT: simplified manufacture of the structure of a heat exchange element, increase in the uniformity of distribution of temperatures throughout the volume of the heat exchange element and the uniformity of the course of the chemical reaction of methane conversion, respectively.
