FIELD: chemical industry; environmental protection.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry and environmental protection; it can be used for the production of pigment titanium dioxide. A titanium-containing residue from hydrochloric acid leaching of titanium-magnetite ore is subjected to autothermal boiling with concentrated sulfuric acid, at a ratio of 1:1.27 g/g, respectively, at a temperature of 175-190°C, for 3-4 h, then, it is subjected to leaching in diluted sulfuric acid, at a temperature of about 60°C, for 15 h. The resulting suspension is filtered for extraction of black liquor, which is then hydrolyzed and calcined to obtain pigment titanium dioxide. The extraction of titanium into black liquor is at least 98%.
EFFECT: invention allows for disposal of a side product of ore recycling – a titanium-containing residue from leaching to obtain a useful and demanded product – a pigment titanium dioxide, as well as for reduction in environmental pollution.
