SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a system and method for providing content to the user based on a category identified on the user’s device using categorization rules. In the claimed solution, a search query and the site name are intercepted in the browser on the user's device; the hash and type of the intercepted search query and the site name are determined and sent to the cloud security server; the popularity counter of the received data are incremented, if the popularity threshold is exceeded, the cloud security server requests the intercepted request and the site name explicitly; the intercepted request and the site name explicitly are transmitted to the cloud security server; the intercepted request and the name of the site are categorized on the cloud security server and the rules for determining the content category and content are transmitted to the user’s device; the category of content on the user’s device is determined using the content category definition rule and the content is displayed to the user.
EFFECT: ensuring the confidentiality of user data due to the possibility of locally determining the category of content for the user without the need for remote storage of this information.
