FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for the production of low-toxic N-2 hydroxyphenylmethyl-41-(7-cyclohept-1,3,5-trienyl)aniline of formula I which exhibits antimicrobial activity. The method is carried out in one stage and consists in the interaction of salicylic aldehyde, aniline, sodium tetra-hydroborate with tropylium tetrafluoroborate in ethanol at room temperature for two hours.
EFFECT: reduced reaction time and use of a more environmentally friendly solvent – ethanol.
