FIELD: telecommunication.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detection of anomalies in the operation of a highly loaded network of an automated telecommunication system. Additional operations are introduced, based on reception and processing of a network traffic of formation of a dictionary of signals of reference frequency N-gram portraits of a normal and/or abnormal network traffic for each permissible pair of network nodes of the automated telecommunication system, where, ultimately, a user is provided with a possibility of marking of a formed frequency N-gram portrait as normal or abnormal, and the formed frequency N-gram portrait of the network traffic is added to the dictionary of signals of reference frequency N-gram portraits with an anomaly card.

EFFECT: detection of such anomalies, based on the analysis of frequency characteristics of a bit stream of a network traffic, without preliminary isolation of separate elements from it, and without the use of a multiagent model of this network.
