FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to gastroenterology, and can be used in clinical practice to predict seasonal exacerbation of duodenal ulcer. The method includes determining the concentration of the hormone melatonin in the patient's blood on an empty stomach, before breakfast, not less than 8 hours after the last meal, not later than 8.00, using high-performance liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry. With its value from 1 to 10 pg/ml in the spring-summer period and from 0 to 1 pg/ml in the autumn-winter period, an exacerbation of duodenal ulcer is predicted.
EFFECT: invention improves the efficiency of predicting seasonal exacerbation of duodenal ulcer.
