ELECTRICLY CONTROLLED LIQUID-CRYSTAL ELEMENT FOR OBTAINING DYNAMIC SPECKLE STRUCTURES Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC G02F1/13

Abstract RU 2787935 C1

FIELD: optoelectronic engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optoelectronic engineering, in particular to devices based on liquid crystals, and is intended to generate a random distribution of light (speckle patterns) when exposed to an electric field. An electrically controlled liquid crystal element for obtaining dynamic speckle structures contains two glass substrates with transparent electrodes on the inner sides, covered with orienting polymer films that specify the initial orientation of molecules in the absence of an external electric field, between which there is a liquid crystal layer, and an electric voltage source. A nematic liquid crystal with negative dielectric anisotropy is used as a liquid crystal, and a low-frequency signal generator is used as an electric voltage source, capable of generating an alternating voltage of 10-20 V and a frequency of 100-700 Hz, leading to the occurrence of electrohydrodynamic instability in the liquid crystal layer, accompanied by dynamic light scattering.

EFFECT: invention allows to generate a random distribution of light (speckle patterns) when exposed to an electric field.
