FIELD: space engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of space engineering, namely to apparatus and methods for docking and separating space vehicles (SVs) and a launch vehicle (LV). SV retention and release apparatus is made modular and provides the possibility of several configurations with various central structures and various numbers of arms and lengths thereof. Invention also includes a method for releasing an SV from the delivery apparatus of the LV and a method for installing the multiple SV retention and separation apparatus.
EFFECT: safe placement of the SV on the LV, lowered impact during undocking, reduced number of pyrotechnic apparatus, and lower risk of collision during separation.
