SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and an apparatus for obtaining photo and video information in conditions of strong light interference. Method for suppressing illumination when forming the road environment in front of a vehicle includes the following stages: generating a random numerical sequence K(1), K(2), ..., K(N) of a preset length N, consisting of two types of numbers K(i)=1 or K(i)=-1 appearing in the sequence with the same probability 1/2; correcting the resulting sequence of random numbers K(i) so that the following condition is met: the sum K(1) +K(2)+...+K(N)=0, namely, first, the predominating elements are determined from: 1 or -1; for the excess part of the elements, selected randomly, the sign is changed; a set of N identical optical pulses of a preset duration with a constant duty ratio is generated, each ith pulse is matched with the ith element of the numerical sequence, the pulses corresponding to elements with a -1 value are removed from the set; said optical pulses are emitted into the area of interest in space, and light from the illuminated area is recorded using a video camera, resulting in a series of N images; an image of the illuminated area is built by the phantom image method by calculating the correlation function

EFFECT: suppression of the negative effect of bright external light sources on the quality of the created images, increase in the value of contrast of the images and the possibility of simultaneous application of multiple devices without significant mutual effect on the operation thereof.
