SUBSTANCE: composition for skin care contains low-molecular acetylated hyaluronic acid or its sodium salt, while low-molecular acetylated hyaluronic acid or its sodium salt has average molecular weight from 10 to 15 kDa, average acetylation degree of more than 3.8, and polydispersity indicator of less than 1.5. A method for the production of low-molecular acetylated hyaluronic acid, a method for the production of sodium salt of low-molecular acetylated hyaluronic acid, powder of low-molecular acetylated hyaluronic acid or its sodium salt for skin care, and a method for suppression of destruction of extracellular skin matrix associated with increased levels of matrix-destructing enzymes are also disclosed.
