SUBSTANCE: method and kit are proposed for predicting the therapeutic effect of chemotherapy using an antitumor agent containing an LSD1 inhibitor in a cancer patient based on the INSM1 expression level in a sample isolated from a cancer patient. A method is proposed for the treatment of cancer, including the measurement of INSM1 expression in a sample of a patient with cancer, the prediction that chemotherapy using an antitumor agent containing LSD1 inhibitor, is highly likely to provide a sufficient effect in a cancer patient if the INSM1 expression level is equal to higher than the predetermined data collection end point and administering chemotherapy to a patient with cancer who was predicted with a high probability of obtaining a sufficient therapeutic effect. The use of an LSD1 inhibitor for the production of an LSD1 inhibitor-containing antitumor agent is proposed in a patient with cancer who was predicted with a high probability of obtaining a sufficient therapeutic effect.

EFFECT: efficient prediction of the therapeutic effect of an LSD1 inhibitor by determining the INSM1 expression.
