FIELD: material processing.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for application of a protective composition of polyurethane to steel products; it can be used in the application of a composition to increase a service life of steel products, when operating under extreme conditions. The method includes mixing of components A and B of a two-component polyurethane system by quantitative transfer of the component B to the component A at a ratio of 1:5, dissolution with a solvent, preparation of a surface of a steel product, spraying of at least one layer of a primer composition on the entire surface of the product, curing of each layer of the primer composition, spraying of at least one layer of the protective composition on the entire surface of the product, drying of each layer of the protective composition, at least one flaw detection, and additional polymerization. The component A of the polyurethane system consists of prepolymer based on polyester and toluene diisocyanate, and technical carbon, which is fine-dispersed powder, moisture content in which is no more than 3% of the weight. The component B consists of an amine hardener of urethane polymers, liquid low-molecular polyethylene glycol, and diethyl toluene diamine.

EFFECT: invention provides for an increase in a service life of steel products, increase in adhesion of a protective composition to a steel surface, as well as increase in the efficiency of processing of the surface during the application of the protective composition.
