SUBSTANCE: agricultural work machine, in particular a harvester, contains a front working body for performing or supporting the performance of agricultural work in plants with a harvested crop, as well as an automatic system of following the ground contour for regulating the distance from the front working body to the ground when passing through the plants and a detecting device configured to register plants in the direction of movement in front of the machine. The detecting device is configured to determine the height or height profile of the plants in the direction of movement in front of the machine and detect a change in the height of the plants based on determined difference in height or height profile of the plants. The system of automatic copying of the ground contour is made with the ability to take into account in advance the detected change in the plant height and, based on the detected plant height change, adapt the sensitivity of the automatic ground contour copying system control.

EFFECT: increasing the operating comfort of an agricultural working machine when passing through plants.
