FIELD: methods for improving the re-dispersibility of dried or partially dried microfibrillated cellulose.
SUBSTANCE: method for improving the physical and/or mechanical properties of the redispersed microfibrillated cellulose includes providing an aqueous composition of microfibrillated cellulose, dehydrating the aqueous composition, drying the composition and redispersing the microfibrillated cellulose. Dehydration is carried out using a belt press, high pressure automatic belt press, centrifuge, tube press, screw press and/or rotary press. Drying is carried out using a fluidized bed dryer, microwave and/or radio frequency dryer, a hot air mill or dryer, a sectional mill or a multi-screw sectional mill, and/or freeze drying. Microfibrillated cellulose is obtained from waste paper, scraps of paper production or waste from the paper industry.
EFFECT: improving the physical and/or mechanical properties of the redispersed microfibrillated cellulose.
