SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in assessing the quality of seeds in breeding work when breeding new varieties and introducing plants. Device for detecting a selection of seed material contains a hopper, a dosing device, an inclined tray, digital video cameras with illuminators, tanks for finished products and rejected seeds, a stepper motor connected by means of a control device to a central processor. At the same time, the dosing device is made in form of a dosing device for piece feed of seeds. The inclined tray is equipped with a vibrator, and a square-section tube made of a solid transparent material adjoins its lower part. The tube is oriented at an angle of about 45° to the horizon, and its diagonal section size is 5…10% less than the average length of the relevant seeds. Digital cameras are mounted around the tube so that their optical axes are oriented normally to the tube faces, and each tube face has one digital camera. The digital cameras are shifted relative to each other in the axial direction of the tube, on the edges of which dark screens are fixed diametrically opposite to the digital cameras. A branch pipe for selecting rejected seeds is placed adjacent to the lower part of the tube, in the area of which a rotary damper is installed, connected with a stepper motor. The device implements a method for detecting a sample of seed material based on processing of the received digital images of seeds by the central processor. The processor processes images of each seed from four angles and the processor forms a generalized image of the germinal part of the seed, the comparison of which with the reference images makes it possible to determine whether the seed corresponds to one of the eight morphotypes. Seeds with minor embryo morphotypes EMT 1, EMT 1a, EMT 6, EMT 7 are discarded in the same way as defective seeds and impurities.

EFFECT: invention will make it possible to identify a sample of seed material, taking into account the differentiation of embryo morphotypes (EMT) of seeds.
