FIELD: strength testing.
SUBSTANCE: strength testing of semi-finished products of metallic materials, a method for determining the effect of preliminary plastic deformation by compression on the fatigue resistance of the material of a circular cross section part. Identical samples are made from a metal material in the form of a body of revolution, consisting of a gripping, transitional and working parts. Each sample is loaded with static compression until a plastic deformation variable along the length of the working part of the samples is formed, after which a pair of samples is formed for fatigue testing by turning one of the samples by 180°, carry out cyclic loading of the pair according to the axial compression scheme until the destruction of one of the samples, the critical value of plastic deformation is determined from the coordinate of the formation of a fatigue crack.
EFFECT: possibility of predicting the resource of structural elements, significantly reducing the number of tested samples, as well as the ability to determine critical, in terms of fatigue, levels of residual compression deformations and predict the effect of the production process on the endurance limit of the resulting products.
