FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to preoperative risk stratification in a subject suffering from prostate cancer. A method is proposed, including determining the expression profile of the PDE4D7 gene and the expression profile of the DHX9 gene in a biological sample obtained from a subject. Based on these profiles, a preoperative predictive risk score is determined. In this case, the expression profiles of the PDE4D7 and DHX9 genes are combined with a regression function that was obtained on the basis of a population of subjects suffering from prostate cancer. The risk score indicates the risk of biochemical recurrence (BCR), clinical recurrence (CR), or prostate cancer-specific mortality. Also proposed are a diagnostic kit and its use in this method, the use of a gene expression profile for PDE4D7 and a gene expression profile for DHX9 in this method, as well as an appropriate machine-readable carrier.
EFFECT: inventions allow to provide improved stratification of the subject in the preoperative condition, which can lead to more correct decisions on primary treatment.
